Police: Men bound and gagged victim, ransacked house in Brick home invasion
Brick Police are investigating a home invasion that occurred in the township Thursday evening.
Two black men — dressed in black, faces covered with scarves, and possibly armed with long guns — forced entry into a Montclair Drive house around 8:20 p.m. Thursday, bound and gagged a victim, ransacked the house, and fled, police said.
Police were alerted after a 10-year-old ran from the house to a neighbor’s house when the two suspects forcibly entered, police said.
The victim was not injured during the assault, police said.
Upon responding, police conducted an extensive search of the area, with officers, K-9 units, and assistance from Point Pleasant Borough and Wall Township departments, leading to the arrest of Ishawn David Redd of Allenhurst Avenue in Neptune Township, police said.
Redd, who was found lying on the ground in the backyard of a Main Avenue house, was charged with defiant trespass and hindering apprehension, police said, noting that the defiant trespass charge is not related to the home invasion on Montclair Drive.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are actively searching for proceeds or evidence, including clothing, in the neighborhood. Police ask that anyone who observes any suspicious items, such as clothing, in their yard to not touch the item and contact the department at (732) 262-1100.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Det. Thomas Cooney or Det. Greg Mullarkey at (732) 262-1120.
