Police in Toms River are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man they say committed an armed robbery at Chase Bank on Highland Parkway in Toms River late Tuesday afternoon.

The caucasian man — described as 5-feet, 7-inches tall and 165 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a blue top with a white stripe under the left arm, a blue baseball cap, glasses, sneakers, and black gloves — entered the bank just after 5:00 p.m., according to a police release.

The suspect then walked up to an employee, brandished a black handgun, and began to yell, demanding money, according to police. After receiving an undisclosed sum of cash, he then fled north on Highland Parkway toward Main Street.

There were no injuries to the four employees and one customer inside the bank.
