Police: Allenhurst child abduction attempt unfounded

An attempted kidnapping reported Saturday afternoon in Allenhurst is unfounded, police said.

Subsequent interviews conducted by the authorities revealed that the incident was unfounded “due to a miscommunication,” said Capt. Michael Schneider in an Asbury Park Sun report.

Police released a statement over the weekend, advising of the attempted abduction involving a man grabbing a child and attempting to place the victim inside a white van near the Allenhurst train station.
