PNC unveils mobile check-deposit app

A week after three major banks announced their mobile banking service, PNC has unveiled its check-deposit mobile app for widespread use.

The Pittsburgh-based bank is now offering the service to all its customers — or, at least those with iPhones, iPods and iPads.

Anyone with an eligible bank account and access to PNC online can use their mobile devices to snap a photo of the front and back of a check, as Philadelphia Business Journal reports, and essentially upload the check to their accounts. The process takes about 90 seconds and deposits made before 8 p.m. are usually available the next business day.
