Grid Magazine, PlanPhilly win AIA awards

On Thursday evening, Grid Magazine and PlanPhilly were honored by the Philadelphia Chapter of The American Institute of Architects with the 2009 Lewis Mumford and Urban Design Committee awards. The association, which represents nearly 1,400 member architects within four southeastern Pennsylvania counties: Philadelphia, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery, bestowed the Mumford award to Grid Magazine for its commitment to sustainability and clear writing. PlanPhilly received the Urban Design award for its urgent and comprehensive online coverage of the built community in Philadelphia. The award ceremony was part of an annual AIA holiday party held at the Center for Architecture on Arch Street. The PlanPhilly reporting team welcomes feedback: Kellie Patrick Gates (The Waterfront); Tom Walsh (Planning and Zoning); Alan Jaffe (Preservation); Anthony Campisi (Transportation); Steve Ujifusa (SS United States); JoAnn Greco (Design).
