Plan calls for boutique hotel at Blue Horizon boxing venue

If plans are approved for The Hotel Blue on Broad, the old Blue Horizon boxing venue on North Broad Street will mostly be a memory.

Though Mosaic Development Partners plans to incorporate the Blue Horizon’s history into the boutique hotel, the building itself will be demolished and a new one built in its footprint.
PlanPhilly reports the $28 million proposal calls for 87 rooms and a new eight-story addition. The Blue Horizon closed in 2010, but it’s the history people are worried about.

Developers want a Fall 2014 open, but several zoning provisions need to be worked out before the project can move forward.
