Pitman Christmas banner will stay, become caroling destination

The “Keep Christ in Christmas” banner can continue to hang in Pitman, N.J., and will be the site of a caroling event Saturday night.

Sounds like the Freedom from Religion Foundation lost the battle on this one. Earlier in the season, the national organization tried to have the sign removed, arguing the Christmas banner hanging above the borough’s main street was too religious.

But the Gloucester County Times reports the banner isn’t a zoning violation, so not only can it stay, but the Pitman Council of Churches has organized a caroling event beneath the sign at 9 p.m. Christmas Eve.
