Pirates, cabaret and storytelling: 5 things to do this weekend with your family

    The arts are in the air in the offerings for this weekend!

    Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Stinky Cheese ManEnjoy some of your favorite fairy tale characters with a twist! The Arden Theater presents a stage performance based on the Caldecott Award winning book- Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales. This hilarious family favorite is sure to delight. Tickets $20, multiple weekend showings.

    Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Patriots and PiratesAhoy Matey! Hop on board the Diligence and discover America’s conflict with pirates and Philly’s role in the founding of the USA Navy. Explore artifacts and participate in various hands on activities. Free with regular admission, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Saturday: StoryUpWatch as your children bring their stories to life along with the innovative improv actors of StoryUp. These interactive performances help get children excited about literacy. Free, 11 a.m. to noon.

    Sunday: African Art AdventureExplore the West African cultures of the Barnes’ collection. The Artsee Cart offers fun family friendly, multi sensory, hands on activities and programs. Free, 2 to 4 p.m.

    Sunday: Cosplay CabaretYou’re in for some old fashioned variety entertainment at the Rotunda! Philly’s own Five Minute Follies presents their family friendly vintage variety show. Tickets $15, 2:30 p.m.
