Photos from the Philadelphia Marathon as it made its way through NW Philly

On Sunday, tens of thousands of runners took to city streets for a Philadelphia Marathon that had them running through Center City to the Delaware River and then out Kelly Drive to East Falls and Manayunk.

 

An estimated 30,000 runners participated in the half marathon and marathon.

Winning the women’s marathon in 2:39:03 was Irina Alexandrova, 33, of Russia, who won the race nine years ago.

Winning the men’s race in 2:17:34 was Abebe Mekuriya, a 30-year-old Ethiopian making his first visit to the United States.
