Philly high school closed after reports of skin irritation from cheerleading competition

Father Judge High School has been closed today due to what the school describes as a situation that led to skin and eye irritations for some attendees at a weekend cheerleading competition.

According to a statement issued by the high school, the school was scheduled to be closed Tuesday out of “an abundance of caution and so that officials can do additional testing.”

The school says some in attendance of the weekend cheerleading event sought medical attention.

On Monday, the school was scheduled to be closed for a teacher in-service day. Health and safety officials spent much of Monday inspecting the school’s gym but say they could not determine the source that caused the irritation.
