Philly DA seizes homes at an alarming rate

Journalist Isaiah Thompson revisits NewsWorks Tonight to talk about his report in Pro Publica about the potential for improprieties in cases of civil forfeiture across the state of Pennsylvania.

District Attorneys’ offices across Pennsylvania add to their budgets through assets seized through drug-related crimes, and last year, the extent of the practice in Philadelphia was brought to light by journalist Isaiah Thompson in a City Paper story.

A follow-up report in Pro Publica focuses on the potential for improprieties when not just cash or cars but properties are taken as well. NewsWorks Tonight Host Dave Heller talks about the investigation with Isaiah Thompson.
