Philly archdiocese discusses details of 2015 event

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is planning to announce details of a major Roman Catholic gathering in Philadelphia next year.

Archbishop Charles Chaput will be joined by Gov. Tom Corbett and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter on Friday morning to discuss a leadership delegation visit to the Vatican regarding the Eighth World Meeting of Families.

The meeting set for Sept. 22 through Sept. 27 in 2015 is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors. Officials are hoping that Pope Francis will attend but that hasn’t been officially confirmed.

The archdiocese said Chaput will identify the members of the leadership delegation in addition to Corbett and Nutter, who were previously tapped for the group that will plan and fundraise for the event.
