Philips recalls batch of lightbulbs for potential safety hazard

Philips has issued a recall on some of its “compact fluorescent dimmable reflector lamps” because the bulbs pose a possible safety risk.

Defective glue on the bulbs sold between March 2007 and July 2011 could cause the outer glass on the bulb to come off and fall, which poses a laceration hazard.

Also known as Marathon or Marathon Classic bulbs, the affected model numbers are EL/A R30 Dim 16w, EL/A R40 Dim 20w and EL/A Par38 Dim 20w.
