Philadelphia’s Indonesians slip their culture into everyday life

    Just when you thought Pew’s report on demographic changes in Philadelphia had been written about from angle every, a new one has cropped up in South Philly.

    In this week’s edition of Flying Kite, South Philly-based Indonesians talk about their history, their culture and what they bring to Philadelphia.

    The author spoke primarily with Mega Eischen, who counts English as one of her eight languages, and acted as a translator for an Indonesian restaurant owner. She and two others opened up about their growing but quiet presence in Philadelphia.
