The Urban League of Philadelphia is getting a new CEO. Rosalyn McPherson will take over for Patricia Coulter in July.

McPherson has her eye on Philadelphia’s crumbling school system. “Education is a big deal,” she said. ” Especially in this city, where underfunding, school closings, and the budget shortfalls have been a real major challenge.” said McPherson.

McPherson said she is not ready to offer specifics about any initiatives she’ll push as the Urban League’s new CEO. The league advocates for African Americans through housing, jobs, education and entrepreneurship.

McPherson currently runs the Roz Group, a marketing and communications firm in Philadelphia. She’s also a former classroom teacher and textbook editor.
