Philadelphia Orchestra partners with Chinese residency program
They come from two very different parts of the world but the Philadelphia Orchestra and a Chinese residency program share one common goal: to find and nurture young talent and create musical partnerships.
Fox 29 reports the Philadelphia Orchestra has partnered up with a delegation from Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts.
An agreement was signed today in Washington.
According to Fox 29, the cultural exchange begins next May as a one-year pilot program.
Orchestra president Alison Vulgamore tells Fox 29 the announcement re-establishes the group as a cultural ambassador.
The news comes after the orchestra filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April.
