Petition challenge brings Eighth District council race back to the forefront

When the primary election buzz died down in late Spring, we expected the campaign scene to fade into the background until fall, save for the odd dust-up. But we forgot about a couple things: the independent candidacy petitions due last week and the highly competitive race to replace Donna Reed Miller in the 8th District.

So at the height of summer, we’ve got two candidates readying for a hearing to determine whether Independent Jim Foster is “little older and a little wider” enough than Green Party candidate Brian Rudnick to have physically collected 875 valid signatures himself.

NewsWorks’ Alan Tu has the full details on the race, which is now a three-pony one also featuring Democratic candidate Cindy Bass.
