Perzel set to plead guilty today

It’s a big day for John Perzel, but not the kind he’s likely looking forward to. The former House Speaker and former 172nd Legislative District rep is due in Harrisburg court to plead guilty to public corruption.

Though he’s maintained innocence ’til now, Perzel is staring down 82 counts worth $10 million. And three former staffers, his brother-in-law included, have recently entered their own guilty pleas.

In total, a group of 10 have been charged with using taxpayer money to fund re-election strategies for House GOP members.
