Penn State hires former White House counsel

Penn State has hired a former White House counsel to advise university president Rodney Erickson.

The Associated Press reports Lanny Davis, who once served as special counsel to President Bill Clinton, has been hired by the university.

A spokeswoman tells the AP Davis “has been engaged” to provide legal advice and counsel to the university’s new president.

Penn State President Erickson was appointed last month to replace Graham Spanier, who resigned in the wake of child sex abuse charges brought against former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.
