Pending contract award, Mount Holly’s mount will be improved

The only thing standing in the way of improvements to a South Jersey Revolutionary War battle site is an approved contract for the work.

The Burlington County Times reports the mount of Mount Holly, N.J., will get new walking trails, steps, benches and trashcans. Aside from serving regular visitors, the new and improved mount will also be used for the annual re-enactment of the 1776 Battle of Iron Works Hill.

A $180,385 state grant was awarded for the work last year, but approval for the wood chips being used delayed the project.
