Patriotic tidings, then and now
Happy holiday! Let’s pause to honor the rebels who championed democratic values and put us on the path to independence. Today I nominate Samuel Adams, who said this in 1768:
“There is nothing so fretting and vexatious, nothing so justly terrible to tyrants and their tools and abettors, as a free press.”
A free press, to check and balance the madness of King George. And now we’ve come full circle.
