Patience, please

Legislation designed to reducePennsylvania taxpayers’ expenses of state government and school district pensions will work. Taxpayers will just have to be patient.

The Associated Press reports costs to the state government and districts will go from $1.06 billion to $.17 billion in the next year. The good news is the projected cost for the next decade is $5.2 billion per year — down from $6.4 billion.

Under the law, new hires will have cheaper benefits, but those savings won’t be felt until those new hires enter into retirement.
