Paperborad company to close in York County

    A central Pennsylvania plant has announced it will close its doors, leaving dozens without work.

    According to the Associated Press, the Yorktowne Paperboard Corp. plant in York County has announced it will close this fall, leaving 78 people without work.

    In a statement, the AP reports company CEO Philip Jones said the decision to close the York County plant, along with other moves, will allow the company to “compete effectively in today’s market environment.”

    The Associated Press says employees have been notified of the October 17 layoff date.
