Paper reviews month-long positive coverage experiment

    For 31 days, the Pottstown Mercury had self-imposed goal: report about positive things happening in the area. Every day, aside from the regular news coverage, the Mercury highlighted something good in Pottstown.

    Of course, the positive goal was met with some negative reaction.

    But the paper prevailed. Amid comments about slacking on the job and praise for boosting the town, the Mercury did achieve its goal.

    Little league games, fundraisers, festivals and charities saw plenty of coverage last month, though not as many comments or views from readers.
