Webcomic: Packing up for the Shore

This is the 2nd installment of NewsWorks’ comic strip It’s a Shore Thing. Today the Featherstone family is packing up to move to the Jersey shore.

Check back every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the summer as It’s a Shore Thing follows the adventures of the Featherstone family as they run the family bed and breakfast in out-of-the-way North Lower Bayheightsville. Here’s a closer look at one of the main characters:

Piper Featherstone

What she lacks in social graces and “little girlisms,” Piper makes up in the wit and intellect departments. She’s your standard 8-year-old who wants to stand out from her peers, mostly because she thinks they’re morons.

She has a deep love for nature and science, so she is looking forward to exploring the natural side of the Shore. Uprooting her life and moving to a new town is traumatic and strange for this precocious kid. As Piper would say, “she’s surrounded by idiots.”  Despite that handicap, she navigates her own path in this strange new life.
