Pa. agents seek information from Philly-area senator

Agents from the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office have used a search warrant to request information from two district offices of a Philadelphia-area state senator.

Democratic Sen. Leanna Washington said in a statement that agents came seeking information Friday at her two district offices, one in Philadelphia and one in Montgomery County.

Washington said Sunday she’s complying with the requests. She didn’t say what the agents sought, but two people familiar with the search warrant say agents wanted information about political activity.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly about it.

Senate Democrats also say they’re aware the attorney general’s office wanted information from Washington’s office and they’ll cooperate.

An attorney general’s spokesman wouldn’t confirm or deny the search warrant or an investigation.
