Opponents to Verna, Blackwell drop out

Three election dropouts will leave ballots changing and take some pressure off the remaining candidates. The race for Anna Verna’s 2nd District Council seat is down to four, now that attorney Richard C. DeMarco has dropped out, citing a family illness.

Over in the 3rd District, incumbent Jannie Blackwell is now unopposed, Heard in the Hall reports. Tony Ophax King was knocked off Friday, and Alicia Burbage will drop out instead of fighting a challenge to her petition.
