In response to the violence in Charlottesville over the weekend, Radio Times talked about white supremacist groups and President Trump’s tepid condemnation with Pete Simi, a professor at Chapman University on Monday. Simi, who studies extremist groups, explained that white nationalist groups have interpreted Trump’s reticence to condemn the far-right as a sign of support.
In Trump’s public statement on the Charlottesville violence, the President placed blame on both the white nationalist groups and the counter-protesters. And while this comment has been highly criticized, some people have tried to equate Black Lives Matter to the KKK. Marty asked Simi about that.
