With great weather and Miss America in town, the Shore stays hot

With temperatures reaching into the 80s and clear skies, beaches along the Shore were busy this weekend. So were local Shore merchants, eager to make the most of the post-Labor Day weekends before the weather turns cold, and things really slow down.

I’m headed to Atlantic City today for a meetup with Chris Saltalamacchio, a pageant coach and University of Delaware grad who has guided contesants to state, national and local titles. He’s in town for Miss America, and several of his clients are competing.

With preliminaries beginning today, the week-long Miss America competitions have officially begun. Perhaps fittingly, Miss New Jersey Cara McCollum kicked things off this morning, the first contestant in the first group in the Interview portion.

You can monitor all the preliminaries action in real time on the official Miss America website. I’ll be checking in, too, so stay tuned to NewsWorks.

Just put 2 greek yogurt tubs over my eyes to try & get rid of the bags… It’s interview morning and #IMNUMBERONE #IMNUMBERONE! #wishmeluck

Remind me to try that Greek yogurt tub trick. These early back-to-school hours are killing me.
