The Grinch won’t be stealing Christmas this year in Ocean Township.

After receiving information that the green creature, made infamous in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, was concocting a plot to sabotage Christmas in Waretown by dressing up as Santa Claus and stealing holiday decorations and gifts from homes, the Ocean Township Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau launched a “vigilant” surveillance effort.

Thankfully for the town, the dragnet paid off.

The Grinch was arrested without incident Monday evening, police announced.

The department announced on its Facebook page to stay tuned for the location of another procession Tuesday night.
