Occupy Philly’s cost to the city totals $1 million

Through Wednesday’s cleanup at Dilworth Plaza, Occupy Philly’s costs to the city total $1 million, WHYY/NewsWorks’ Tom MacDonald tells us.

The tent city was dismantled earlier in the week to make way for the plaza’s renovation project. Occupy members have spoken out against what they say was excessive force by police in Wednesday’s eviction. The city used bike police and its recently reinstated mounted unit to control the crowd.

More than 50 people were arrested during the eviction process.
