Occupy Philly holds press conference to address city’s eviction notice

    A press conference has been scheduled by members of Occupy Philly to address the city’s eviction notice, which is set for 5 p.m. tonight.

    According to a statement issued by protesters, the group will respond to the city’s eviction outside of Dilworth Plaza today, where protesters have maintained a presence for 52 days.

    Occupy Philly claims they were not granted any permit for other locations.

    Today’s the press conference is scheduled to include members of numerous working groups at Occupy Philly, as well as members from the labor and homeless communities.

    Occupy Philly says it plans to hold a general assembly meeting at 7 p.m.

    The statement issued by Occupy Philly does not say whether the group plans to stay or leave by the 5 p.m. deadline.

    NewsWorks reporter Tom MacDonald is outside of city hall today, where it appeared at least one of the structures was being taken down by protesters.
