Occupiers see racial tension in Philly, arrests in Boston

    While you were sleeping, Occupiers in Philadelphia and Boston had a tense night.

    There’ve been rumors of racial tension at City Hall, and the Boston movement last night saw its first (and well-documented) arrests.

    City Paper spoke with several people yesterday about a rumored incident of racism at Occupy Philly’s Tech Tent. None of the reports have been verified, but one thing is clear from the interviews: people have very different ideas about what Occupy Philly is about and who should be involved.

    Meanwhile, photos and video posted to Twitter last night from Boston show multiple arrests, but not the events leading up to police involvement.

    “Things have gone wrong in Boston,” OccupyPhilly tweeted early Tuesday morning. “The police are beating people who have dedicated their lives to this country….”
