Nutter throws some lefts

Mayor Nutter held his own on the Meet The Press panel this week, occupying the partisan Democratic slot opposite Republican operative Ed Gillespie. Liberal journalist E. J. Dionne joined along with Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal.

Nutter got the first question and the last one, and he generally spoke with confidence and clarity, defending President Obama and insisting economic recovery is coming to Philadelphia. He even managed to sound coherent on the un-answerable question of whether TSA airport searches are too intrusive.

“Apparently everyone got to see grandmom over the course of the Thanksgiving holidays with no long lines (and) not a whole lot of nonsense,” he said.

And he declared that Philadelphia has indeed embraced Michael Vick, adding that he’s a great person and that we’re “a city of redemption and a city of second chances.”

Nutter met host David Gregory at a Chamber of Commerce event this fall, and apparently impressed him enough to get the invitation.
