Nutter makes changes to Redevelopment Authority board

    Mayor Michael Nutter has resigned from the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority board made some changes in his wake. His resignation is effective immediately, and comes two years before the expiration of his term.

     

    “Over the past three years, the RDA has made tremendous strides to make Philadelphia’s housing more equitable by driving innovative planning decisions and playing a critical role in economic development,” reads a statement from Nutter on the city’s website.

    In addition to his resignation, he made the following changes:

    Denise Smyler of Philadelphia’s Smyler Firm, will replace Nutter. She formerly served as deputy city solicitor and chief legal counsel to the Philadelphia police commissioner’s office.

    Wendell Pritchett, chancellor of Rutgers University-Camden and Nutter’s former deputy chief of staff, will chair the board.

    Anuj Gupta, executive director of the Mt. Airy, USA development corporation, had been appointed to a five-year term on the board to replace member Asia Coney.
