Nutter doesn’t count soda tax refusal as a defeat

Nutter’s refusal to admit defeat over the soda tax might sound a little too optimistic, but is there anything wrong with a glass half-full kinda of mayor?

NewsWorks partner Philadelphia Weekly recaps Nutter’s weekend appearance on C-SPAN’s NEWSMAKERS, where he talked with Republican Mayor Mick Cornett of Oklahoma City.

The discusses a lot of things, which you can read about here, but Philly Weekly highlights his review of the soda tax: “The sugar-sweetened beverage did not actually come up for a vote, so technically, it was not defeated.”

Nutter made similar remarks after last week’s council hearings, for which Metropolis called him out.
