Woman poses as nurse to examine children at hospital, police say

PHILADELPHIA — Police say a woman pretended to be a nurse and examined several children at a children’s hospital in Philadelphia.

Investigators say 24-year-old Ashley Delvalle was caught after examining at least two children. Police said Thursday she’s being held on $50,000 bail on charges of simple assault and indecent assault.

Authorities say it happened Tuesday at Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children. Police say they found out when a hospital social worker told them a woman had gone into several patients’ rooms and told parents she was a nurse performing exams.

Hospital officials say she had come into the hospital with her own child.
