Number of Delaware jobless drops below 30,000

The Delaware unemployment rate dropped another tenth of a percent in June to 6.7%.

Delaware’s jobless numbers are always computed two weeks after the national numbers are released.  The U.S. jobless rate for June stood at 8.2%.

A year ago Delaware’s unemployment rate was 7.4%.  The June 2012 number reflects an increase of 5,600 jobs over the last year.

Wilmington and Dover have the highest numbers of the state’s unemployed.  The Wilmington jobless rate is 12.1%.

The month to month increase in jobs was mostly from increases in the financial services and leisure and hospitality areas.
