NRA president in Delaware for gun rights rally
The head of the National Rifle Association is joining Delawareans in rallying in defense of their Second Amendment rights.
NRA President David Keene was among those scheduled to speak Sunday at a Second Amendment Freedom Rally in Dover.
Other participants include John Sigler, chairman of the Delaware Republican Party and a former NRA national president.
The event at the Modern Maturity Center is being sponsored by the Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association.
Gov. Jack Markell last week announced his administration’s plans to push for a series of gun control measures in Delaware. They include a ban on sales of military-style, assault-type semiautomatic weapons and a ban on sales of high-capacity magazines. State officials also want mandatory background checks for all private gun sales not involving federally licensed firearms dealers.
