Northeast Philly Love Note: R7 Line

My absolute favorite place in Philly is what I still call the R7. My route takes me from Cornwells Heights to Suburban Station. Along the way, I see the Philly that makes me SO happy.

We parallel 95 and pass Holmesburg Prison (a behemoth of a building), through the Tacony factories, catching sight of the Tacony Palmyra Bridge. We continue past the El (another one of my favorites), breeze by the North Philly station with its City of Brotherly Love mural, all the fantastic, colorful graffiti, ghost advertisements on old factories and abandoned rail cars, and over the river with its rowers and Zoo Balloon on the north and the skyline to the south.

We pass the Zoo and the goats in the new KidZooU, and pull through 30th Street, so full of energy, see the whale mural and the running trail and finally pull into Suburban. Every day, I cherish this ride and its journey through Philadelphia’s history.
