NJ Transit outlines plan for cleaning 26,000-gallon oil spill

NJ Transit says about 9,000 gallons of fuel has been collected from waterways in Washington Township, but clean-up isn’t over for the 26,000-gallon spill.

Underground tanks at a Route 42 bus depot leaked diesel fuel onto roadways and into nearby Grenloch and Blackwood lakes last week.
It’s since been determined a leak alarm went off but was undetected by workers, causing a 12-hour delay in containment efforts.

In the Courier-Post’s report from last night’s public forum, NJ Transit vowed to continue the clean-up effort until nothing more can be done. It’s not clear how much of the fuel has evaporated.
