NJ town mourns loss of marine killed in Afghanistan

The community of a New Jersey town is mourning the loss of a local hero, after Cpl. Nicholas Ott was killed while serving in Afghanistan.

Ott was killed Wednesday, according to the Star-Ledger, during combat operations in Helmand Province.

The Star-Ledger reports the former Manchester High School athlete was honored Friday in part with hundreds of small American flags displayed in front yards.

Ott was just 23-years-old and was the 36th service member with ties to New Jersey to die in Afghanistan since the war began, according to the report.
