N.J. National Guard commander resigns after acknowledging relationship with female subordinate

    New Jersey’s National Guard commander announced his resignation plans as his relationship with a female subordinate is made public.

    Maj. Gen. Glenn Rieth will step down Dec. 15, NJ.com reports, and the unnamed woman has requested a transfer. Rieth reported the relationship last month and offered his resignation after an internal review. His wife chairs the State Family Readiness Council.

    Rieth was appointed to the position in 2002.
