N.J. man sentenced for posing as doctor

A New Jersey man who admitted he posed as a doctor in a Medicare fraud scheme will spend four years in a federal prison.

A judge sentenced 55-year-old Patrick Lynch of Toms River on Monday.
Federal prosecutors say Lynch created Visiting Doctors of New Jersey to provide medical treatment to elderly home-bound patients in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Licensed physicians and nurse practitioner who he hired quit after he failed to pay them.

Lynch admitted he conducted hundreds of visits to the patients and billed Medicare using the names and government-issued identification numbers of his former employees to write prescriptions.
