Newspaper readers debate value of philly.com redesign

    The media has covered it to death, but all the blogs and comment sections in the city can’t capture the real sentiments of philly.com readers the way Philly Speaks can. The deabte is on on the forum about whether the paid digital edition is a step forward. Most think not.

    Chief among the complaints is that while the digital edition looks sleek on the iPad, the computer version is clunky. Also of concern is the incompatibility with Facebook, decreased search abilities on the site, and this, from PS member “Cya”

    “It’s a shame because I think this paid format will have a direct impact on us here at PhillySpeaks. I wonder if a paid subscriber will be allowed to link a story on here-and have unsubscribed people view it. Probably not.”

    User “loveisnoise” shares the following, wonderful tidbit:
