New Year salutations
Happy 2015 to the National Interest community, denizens and passersby alike. The year we’ve just completed was dreadful in many ways, yet here we are, pointing forward and hoping for the best, as Americans are wont to do.
The new year will surely throw us new curveballs and at times test our sanity – but, in the words of the sagacious oracle, Neil Young, the best advice is to take it all in stride – to “be the river as it rolls along.” That’s my cosmic take on things, for what it’s worth. As for today, however, perhaps the best advice is just to shake off last night and take a second Advil.
Or you can amuse yourself by taking my 2014 Crazy Quiz, posted here yesterday. Or by reading this piece about Back to the Future II, and seeing what the ’80s filmmakers got right about life in 2015 (flat screen TVs, yes; flying skateboards, no). Either way, I’ll bug you again tomorrow. Salutations to all!
