New tool to calculate carbon footprint

These days, it seems like everybody is going green, or trying to make it seem like they’re taking steps to reduce emissions.  But how do homeowners reduce their carbon footprint, or even what their footprint is?  Merriam Webster defines carbon footprint as “the negative impact that something (as a person or business) has on the environment, specifically: the amount of carbon emitted by something during a given period.”

Delmarva Power has launched a new online tool to answer both of those questions and more.  The power company’s online carbon footprint calculator takes users through a series of questions on what type of home they have, how they heat their home (gas or electric), and how far they drive in a typical year.  Then, using that information, the online tool will calculate the carbon footprint and recommend ways to lower the impact.

You can find the new tool and figure out your carbon footprint by clicking here.
