New school day

Ten finalists have been named in the School District of Philadelphia’s recruitment of education providers to lead the next generation of the city’s Renaissance Schools.

Six new contenders join incumbent providers Mastery Charter Schools, ASPIRA of PA, Universal Companies, and Scholar Academies (formerly Young Scholars), according to the Public School Notebook.

The next step involves proposal submissions from the finalists, who, if selected, will head up low-performing schools to make what the School District calls dramatic changes.
