New Jersey’s oldest bridge reopens after repairs
New Jersey’s oldest bridge has reopened to traffic after workers finished emergency repairs, but trucks still face detours.
The state Transportation Department closed Route 206 over Stony Brook in Princeton on Feb. 22 after a parapet collapsed on the south side of the bridge, which was built in 1792. Engineers also discovered cracks and voids in the stone arches.
Trucks must detour because the bridge now has a posted weight limit of 20 tons until permanent repairs are made this summer.
