New Jersey winemakers await approval to ship out-of-state

The new year for New Jersey winemakers could be a very good one if lawmakers approve the industry’s request to ship products to out-of-state consumers.

The Associated Press reports lawmakers are expected to consider the request in January.

The AP, citing a wine consumer’s group, says that of the 12 states that currently do not allow wine to be shipped, New Jersey is the highest-volume wine producer.

While many winemakers have been pushing for the approval, some industry insiders believe business for the state’s liquor stores would take a hit if New Jersey allows wine to be shipped out-of-state.
